NOTICE OF RACE
KONA Gold Cup 2008
14. - 17. August 2008

The Kona Gold Cup is organized by
o Lübecker Yacht-Club
in cooperation with the
o International Kona Class Organization (IKC)

1. RULES
1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the ISAF Racing Rules (RR) of Sailing (RRS), and the Class Rules of the International Kona Class.
2. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
3. The Race Committee will subject boats to random Measurement checks. An appointed committee will check the observance of the rules and the safety equipment. In alteration of RRS 63.1 boats not complying with the rules will be penalized without a protest hearing.
4. A change of the entered sail number will be allowed until registration.

2. ADVERTISING
The ISAF Regulation 20 Advertising Code shall apply.

3. ENTRIES and ENTRY FEE
1. Competitors may enter either by:
Paper Mail: A completed and signed official form shall be send to the organizers.
Internet: Online-entries via Internet will be accepted only if the official entry form is being used. The form shall be filled in completely.
2. Formless entries via Mail, or FAX will not be accepted.
3. The entry fee is EUR 80.00 for adults. Youth under 18 will pay the reduced fee of EUR 50.00.
4. Entry fee have to be paid in cash during the registration only.
5. Entry closes on August 1st, 2008.
Late entries can be accepted. The extra fee will be 50%.

4. ELIGIBILITY and DISCIPLINE
The 3. International Kona Gold Cup is open to all sailors in the following divisions in accordance with the Kona Class Rules:

· Light weight

· Light Medium weight

· Medium weight

· Heavy weight

· Ladies

5. COURSES and SCORING
1. The courses will be defined in the sailing instructions. Boats will be scored in accordance with the low points scoring system (App A4).
2. In accordance with App A2 10 course races are planned eliminating races as follows:

1-3 Course Races - Number of excluded races: 0
4-6 Course Races - Number of excluded races: 1
7-10 Course Races- Number of excludes races: 2

6. VENUE
The Venue is located in Travemünde - Möwenstein, Germany.

7. SCHEDULE
1. Registration:
The regatta office is located at the former baths at the "Möwenstein" directly at the waterfront and will be open from Thursday, August 14th up to Sunday, August 17th, 8:00 - 20:00 hrs. On Sunday the race office will close soon after the price giving.

2. Boats which are not registered at least 1 hour before their first start may be scored DNS.

3. Skippers Meetings:
The locations and times for the Skippers' meetings will be published in the sailing instruction or on the Official Notice Board.

4. August, 14th : 10:00-18:00 Registration
August, 15th: 10:00-18:30 Racing in accordance with the sailing instructions; Opening ceremony
August, 16th: 10:00-18:30 Racing in accordance with the sailing instructions; party in the evening
August, 17th: 10:00-16:00 Racing in accordance with the sailing instructions; Closing ceremony

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

9. JURY
A Jury will be appointed. Their decisions are final and can not be appealed according to rule 70.4.

10. BUOYONCY
If personal buoyancy is prescribed, each competitor shall wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kgs. The buoyancy shall be tested with a metal weight of 4kgs which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes in fresh water.

11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors take part in all races in their own risk. The organizing authority or any of their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either persons or equipment. Participation in this event or supporting events is at the sole discretion of the sailors, who acknowledge this with the registration.

12. CHARTER BOARDS
A limited number of charter boards are available. The charter fee is 100 Euro for a complete set. Booking prior to July, 15th is recommended. For further information please contact WSM Trading (Philip@liquid-sports.de)

Subsequent to the events the charter boards can be purchased at very favourable prices.

2. Tents, Caravans:
A camping site for tents and caravans of the participants is available for free directly at the Möwenstein.

In participating in the event, a competitor automatically grants the organizing authority and the sponsors of this regatta, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said of the event in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said of the event without compensation.
